Resolved Question: What is the Standard Market Segmentation for Watches? Price? Country/Manufactured?
Hi, I have several questions: 1) For the question: "What are the RANGES / SEGMENTS of luxury watches available?" http://www.chronocentric.com/watches/brands.shtml#breakdown I would like to know how the watches were classified in segments, what parameters were taken into account. 2) Do you agree or disagree with the following market segmentations. Would you consider the following segmentation the "standard" one for watch companies. 2.1 MARKET SEGMENTATION by Chronocentric.com Four Major Market Segments: -Mass Market Watches (Less than $50) Sub-segments * Fun Fashion Watches * Sports Watches * Character and Sports Logo Watches -Middle Market Watches ($50-$299) -Upper Middle Market Watches ($300-$999) -Luxury and High Luxury Market ($1,000-$5,000 or More) source: http://fon.gs/watches/ 2.2 MARKET SEGMENTATION by "Market For Watches" Report. -Mass -Middle -Upper Middle -Luxury Market and High Luxury 2.3 MARKET SEGMENTATION by "New Criteria for Market Segmentation by Daniel Yankelovich". www.danyankelovich.com/newcriteria.pdf In this first case we deal with a relatively simple mode of segmentation analysis. The most productive way of analyzing the market for watches turns out to be segmentation by value. This approach discloses three distinct segments, each representing a different value attributed to watches by each of three different groups of consumers: -People who want to pay the lowest possible price for any watch that works reasonably well. If the watch fails after six months or a year, they will throw it out and replace it. -People who value watches for their long life, good workmanship, good material, and good styling. They are willing to pay for these product qualities. -People who look not only for useful product features but also for meaningful emotional qualities. The most important consideration in this segment is that the watch should suitably symbolize an important occasion. Consequently, fine styling, a well-known brand name, the recommendation of the jeweler, and a gold or diamond case are highly valued. 2.4 MARKET SEGMENTATION by "andhranews" ...in terms of range of luxury - the basic range starts with 200 to 2000 dollars. -The super-luxury watches cost 2,000 to 20,000 dollars. -the prestige section may set you back by over 200,000 dollars. http://www.andhranews.net/India/2009/January/14-Luxury-watch-industry- Which one is the STANDARD / WATCH INDUSTRY SEGMENTATION? 3) In which segment would you place the following brands: -RADO: ex. http://fon.gs/rado/ for 2,600 $. -CITIZEN: ex. http://fon.gs/citizen/ for 676.60 $. -EBOHR: http://fon.gs/ebohr for 480 $ -Seiko (in general) It would be a lot to ask to actually put all the well known brands in their category? Do you think RADO watches are overpriced? What brand offers the best value/quality? Citizen? Thanks for reading, hopefully you will find my questions interesting -and I will receive a response :-)

Resolved Question: How do I get my 5 year old to behave at school?
My son is 5, and as most are, very energetic. He gets plenty of walks and exercise. At home, my husband and I find we have to stick to a firm routine, nothing nasty, just making sure he sits to finish his dinner, picks up toys etc and we have a "removal of toys" policy for naughty behaviour. We still give him plenty of cuddles, have a routine of breakfast, get ready, school, he goes to school dinners, bring him home, dinner, read his school book, talk about his school day etc. If he has been very bad, he gets an early night. At the weekends, we go for walks and let him loose on the hills and beach etc, visit nannas and such like. He gets time to play with toys by himself, as I believe it is important that children have time to learn to enjoy their own company as well as that of parents or friends. At the minute, we are being told by school that he is not concentrating and is disrupting class by acting the class clown and not sitting still. At home he behaves because we make sure of it, but I am aware that the teacher does not have the luxury of being able to concentrate on him. When this all kicked off, we took away his toys, implemented a reward chart, and when even then things did not get better, we have banned him from watching TV (he watches 2 cartoons a night). At home he seems full of remorse and promises to be good, but we are lucky if he behaves twice a week at school despite this. We praise him if he does behave, telling him how proud we are etc. I am at my wits end, can you help? How can we discipline him when we am not with him? Why is the routine at home not sinking in, so that he will follow it as school? I have told him time and time again the importance of listening to the teacher and enforced any discipline I have threatened if he does not. I have even tried telling him that if he behaves for so many days he will get to watch a favourite dvd, or have some of his toys back etc. I fully admit that he does not concentrate well, I even tried those chewable omega tablets, but they do not seem to have any effect on him! Can anyone give me any tips for him? I realise his routine at home may sound regimented at home, but he is a very happy boy at home, and we feel he needs this routine to set a president. Thanks to you for the first 2 answers. Hope you enjoyed the 2 points you got for not bothering to read my question to the first, he DOES behave at home, I want to know how to get him to do it at school you idiot. To the second, I see nothing wrong with a smack, but my school are so against it that if they found out I was smacking my son, they would seriously report me to social services, which would probably result in this day and age in him being taken off me, I will never risk that. Rennick. Hi, I love my son to bits, and he's bright, but not a genius. There are other kids in his class far further on, who are not disrupting the class. I do feel he is slightly immature perhaps, and doesn't see the importance of sitting in class - which I am desperately trying to impress on him. Hi April, we do have plenty of quality time with him, he is not a board game kid, but I read to him, we go for walks, we talk, he loves dinosaurs, daddy makes things with him during the holidays, I cook with him. Obviously he can't have this attention at school, and I need him to realise this, but it's not sinking in!
